Running can be inspiring. I feel a great sense of accomplishment when I finish a long run or when I achieve a goal. It is this sense of accomplishment that gets me out on cold and rainy days. I picked the sport up a few years ago with the idea of just jo... 10/3/07 : Mark McNeely

(Motivation) What gets you out of bed when it's cold and rainy?
The challenge.
Why did you start running?
I loved the competition and pushing myself to new limits.
How often do you run? How many miles per week do you run?
4 to 5 times a week, 20 to 30 miles
Are you training for any races? If you are training for a race, what is your goal?
Not currently training for any races, but I do plan on running the Boston Marathon some day.
Where do you like to run?
Trails are the best, but I usually run on the roads.
My funny running story:
Many years ago, when I applied for college, I wrote an essay about a
running experience I had while in highschool. One summer there was a
particular 5 mile course that I loved run almost every day. Some days I
would run the loop twice. While much of the run was through
neighborhoods on streets, there was one stretch of trail that was about
a mile long with a big hill at the end. It being summer I would often
run without a shirt, which was great for most the run, but when I got to
the trail section it caused a \"problem.\" I don\'t know what kind, but
there was some sort of biting fly or insect that hunted this trail. They
would attempt to land on my back and draw blood. The best defense that I
had was to run that stretch at break neck speed and try to out run the
bugs. Some days I was successful some days I wasn\'t. I loved running
that course because those biting bugs provided great motivation.
